CSSI provides Full Software Development Life Cycle and Hardware support to the FAA’s Dynamic Ocean Track System (DOTS) Plus program. This system provides critical oceanic air traffic planning management functions of track generation, track advisory, and traffic monitoring display over the North Atlantic and Pacific Oceans to meter arriving and departing international air traffic. DOTS+ is also used for en route traffic monitoring at the ATCSCC to manage international traffic flow into/out of the U.S.
CSSI designed, developed, tested and deployed functional enhancements identified through CSSI-facilitated user-focus teams at the FAA Oceanic Centers while maintaining over 300,000 lines of DOTS+ operational code. CSSI software development includes integration of weather data, map algorithms over large oceanic airspace areas, and other technical data into accurate, useful displays to give the air traffic managers an efficient system for automatically distributing and scheduling aircraft on oceanic air routes.
DOTS Plus was developed by CSSI to provide flexible tracks, linked by transition routes between domestic and oceanic airspace. The Track Generation process considers the forecast weather between a city pair, and computes the most time/fuel efficient routing for that track requirement.
CSSI developed three key air traffic management functions for DOTS Plus:
• Track Generation
• Track Advisory
• Traffic Monitor Display.
DOTS Plus is operational at Anchorage, New York, and Oakland Oceanic Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCCs), the Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC) and the William J. Hughes Technical Center.
